Shopify estimated delivery date: 3-year cost of delivery date apps versus a one-time section

Short answer

Shopify shows estimated delivery dates at checkout, not on the product page. Section Store's Delivery Timer section adds a dated timeline under the buy button for $9, paid once, with weekends on or off. Apps add cutoff countdowns, holidays and zip code rules, and cost $252 to $540 over three years at 10,000 views a month.

  • Shopify's built-in delivery dates show at checkout, in Shop Pay, in order emails and on order pages, not on product pages.
  • The Delivery Timer section costs $9 once and shows steps such as Order placed, Dispatched and Delivered with real dates.
  • The section has no cutoff hour, no holidays and no country rules. Each step can skip weekends.
  • At 10,000 widget views a month, four delivery date apps cost $252 to $540 over 3 years.
  • Pick an app if you need an order-by countdown, holiday dates or dates by zip code.

Shopify shows estimated delivery dates at checkout, not on the product page. To show "Delivered 4 Nov - 6 Nov" next to the buy button, you need a theme section or an app. Delivery Timer is a Section Store theme section that does it for $9, paid once. Section Store is a Shopify app with theme sections, bundles, a cart drawer and AI Pages. We make it, and this guide says when a monthly delivery date app is the better buy.

Does Shopify show estimated delivery dates on product pages?

No. Shopify's built-in delivery dates appear at checkout and after it, not on the product page. Shopify's help center lists four places: checkout, accelerated checkouts such as Shop Pay, order confirmation emails, and the Thank You and Order Details pages. The product page isn't one of them. That is the gap a section or an app fills.

An estimated delivery date is the day or date range a shopper can expect the order. Shopify works it out from your fulfillment time plus the carrier's transit time. The native dates are free and worth turning on. You set them in Settings, then Shipping and delivery. Shopify offers two kinds, described in its guide to fulfillment time and delivery dates, read on October 24, 2026:

  • Automated delivery dates. Shopify predicts the date from your shipping history. You need the Basic plan or higher, one fulfilled domestic order and a location in the US, Canada, New Zealand or an eligible European country. The prediction must fall within 5 days in North America and New Zealand, or 4 days in Europe.
  • Manual delivery dates. Shopify adds your fulfillment time to your carrier's transit time. They work on every plan. Shopify counts Monday to Friday as business days, with a 12 pm cutoff in the shipping origin's time zone.

Shopify's manual delivery dates page adds one limit. "Delivery dates don't work with shipping rates provided by third-party apps." So the checkout date covers you once the shopper is paying. The product page is where the shopper decides, and Shopify leaves it blank. Stores that meet Shopify's performance standards can also turn on Shop Promise, which shows guaranteed dates with a badge for eligible orders.

The short version. Turn on Shopify's delivery dates for checkout. Then add a delivery date to the product page with a one-time section or a monthly app. Use the same days in both places.

What does the Delivery Timer section show shoppers?

The Delivery Timer section shows a small timeline from order to doorstep, with real dates worked out from today. The default has three steps: "Order placed" today, "Dispatched" in 1 to 2 days and "Delivered" in 4 to 6 days. A heading on top reads "estimated delivery" followed by the last step's dates. You can see it on the live demo product.

  • Steps you name. Each step is a block with a title, an icon and a number of days from today. Add as many steps as you need, such as "Packed" or "Out for delivery".
  • Single dates or ranges. Turn on "Show range days" and a step shows a window, such as "4 Nov - 6 Nov". Each step goes up to 30 days ahead.
  • Weekends on or off. Each step has "Include weekend days". Turn it off if you only ship on weekdays.
  • Two styles. Style 1 shows round icons joined by a line, with dates under them. Style 2 shows bordered boxes with arrows between them.
  • Your icons. The defaults are a padlock, a truck and a map pin. Upload your own image for any step.
  • Five spots on the page. Above or below the buy buttons, above or below the product title, or below the description. Below the buy buttons is the default.
  • Translated months. Stores in Spanish, French, German and Italian get month names in their language. The step titles are your own text.

Dates print day first, such as "28 Oct". You set the fonts, colors, sizes, borders and spacing in the theme editor, with separate sizes for mobile.

How do you add an estimated delivery date to Shopify product pages?

You add an estimated delivery date to Shopify product pages in about eight steps. First the section goes into your product template. Then you set the days to match your real shipping.

  1. Install Section Store from the Shopify App Store. The app is free to install.
  2. Buy the Delivery Timer section in the app. Shopify bills the $9 as a one-time charge.
  3. Add it to your theme. Pick the theme in the app. Then open the theme editor, choose your product template and click Add section.
  4. Choose the position. "Below buy buttons" works for most stores. The section moves itself next to your theme's buy buttons, title or description.
  5. Set the days for each step. Use your fulfillment time for "Dispatched". Add your carrier's transit time for "Delivered".
  6. Turn on ranges where your times vary. A 4 to 6 day window is easier to keep than a single date.
  7. Turn off weekends on each step if you don't pack or ship on Saturdays and Sundays.
  8. Save and check the preview. The section shows its dates once you save. Check them against a real order.

The section looks for your theme's usual buy button and title elements. Most Online Store 2.0 themes, such as Dawn, use them. Check the preview on your own theme before you publish. The video below walks through the setup on a product page.

How does the Delivery Timer section count the days?

The Delivery Timer section adds each step's days to today's date when Shopify builds the product page. It has no cutoff hour, no holiday list and no country rules. A shopper at 9 am and one at 11 pm on the same day see the same dates.

The table shows what a shopper sees with the default steps on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Delivery Timer dates for an order on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, worked out from the section code. Checked October 24, 2026.
Step Days set Weekends included Weekends off
Order placed 0 28 Oct 28 Oct
Dispatched 1 to 2 29 Oct - 30 Oct 29 Oct - 30 Oct
Delivered 4 to 6 1 Nov - 3 Nov 4 Nov - 6 Nov

With weekends off, an order on a Saturday or Sunday counts from Monday. The weekend count is cautious. Across a weekend it can land a day later than a strict business-day count. In the example, a strict count gives 3 Nov to 5 Nov, and the section shows 4 Nov to 6 Nov. A late promise kept beats an early one missed, but check the preview against your real times.

The section is the same for every product on a template. For a slower product, such as made-to-order furniture, give it its own product template with its own Delivery Timer settings.

How do you keep the product page date and the checkout date the same?

You keep the two dates the same by setting both from the same numbers: your fulfillment time plus your carrier's transit time. Shopify's checkout uses the fulfillment time you pick in Shipping and delivery. The section uses the days you type in each step.

  • Same fulfillment time. If Shopify says "Next business day", set "Dispatched" to 1 day with weekends off.
  • Same transit window. If your rate says 2 to 4 days in transit, set "Delivered" to 3 to 5 days.
  • Ranges, not single dates. Shopify's manual dates show a range. A range on the product page matches it.
  • Review after changes. When your carrier or warehouse changes, update both places the same day.

Shopify's checkout cutoff is 12 pm, and the section has none. So an afternoon order can see a checkout date one day later than the product page. Add one day to "Dispatched" if your orders often arrive after noon.

What does an estimated delivery date app cost over three years?

The Delivery Timer section's $9 costs less than two months of the cheapest paid delivery date plan here. The table prices four delivery date apps at 10,000 widget views a month for 36 months. It is an example with list prices, checked on each App Store listing on October 24, 2026.

Estimated delivery date cost at 10,000 widget views a month, from Shopify App Store listings. Checked October 24, 2026. The order is not a ranking.
Tool Rating Price basis Per month at 10,000 views Over 3 years
Delivery Timer section 4.9 (2,998) for Section Store One-time price $0 $9
Estimated Delivery Date ‑ ETA 4.9 (514) Plan, unlimited views from $6.99 $6.99 $251.64
Delivery Timer: Estimated Date 4.9 (87) Monthly views $7.99 $287.64
Essent Estimated Delivery Date 5.0 (1,046) Monthly views $9.99 $359.64
OD2 Shipping Date & Timer 5.0 (10) Flat monthly $14.99 $539.64

Two app names look like ours. "Delivery Timer: Estimated Date" is an app by LAUNCHTIP. OD2's developer, Rapid Apps, also uses "Delivery Timer" in its name. Neither is Section Store's Delivery Timer section.

The free tiers are real. Delivery Timer: Estimated Date is free to 500 views a month, then $7.99 to 10,000, $14.99 to 25,000 and $19.99 to 50,000. Essent Estimated Delivery Date is free to 1,000 views, then $4.99 to 5,000, $9.99 to 15,000 and $24.99 unlimited. Estimated Delivery Date ‑ ETA is free to 100 views, and its $6.99 Startup plan has no view cap. OD2 Shipping Date & Timer is free while you set it up, then $14.99 a month or $149.99 a year.

A small store under 500 views a month pays nothing for an app. A store at 50,000 views pays $19.99 a month for LAUNCHTIP's app or $24.99 for Essent. The section still costs nothing more.

When is a delivery date app the better choice?

A delivery date app is the better choice when your dates depend on the clock, the calendar or the shopper's address. A section with fixed days can't do that. These are the cases where we'd pick an app:

  • An "order within 3 hours" countdown. Essent, OD2, ETA and LAUNCHTIP's app all show a cutoff countdown. The Delivery Timer section has no cutoff and no countdown.
  • Holidays and days off. OD2 and Essent take a holiday list. ETA adds holiday schedules on its $6.99 plan.
  • Dates by country or zip code. OD2 and Essent detect the shopper's location. ETA's $14.99 plan adds a zip code checker.
  • Different times per product. Apps set rules by product, collection or tag. ETA also changes the date for out-of-stock variants.
  • The same date in the cart and at checkout. Apps place their date there too. The section stays on the product page.

Section Store Plus has a Shipping info block that shows "Ships by" a date and a line with the shopper's country flag. Plus costs $15 a month, flat at any revenue, and also includes a cart drawer with a free shipping bar. Our step-by-step guides cover the Shipping info block on Dawn and on Horizon.

If you ship from one place on steady times, pay once. The Delivery Timer section costs $9 and shows a clear timeline under the buy button. If you need cutoff countdowns, holidays or dates by zip code, a monthly app earns its fee.

How we compared

We read the Delivery Timer section's code on October 24, 2026, and worked out its dates from that code. Rival prices, features and ratings come from each Shopify App Store listing that day. The 3-year figures are list price times 36 at 10,000 widget views a month, without annual-plan savings. Shopify's delivery date rules come from help.shopify.com. We make Section Store, rated 4.9 from 2,900+ reviews.

Frequently asked questions

Can Shopify show an estimated delivery date on the product page?

Not on its own. Shopify's built-in delivery dates appear at checkout, in Shop Pay, in order emails and on the order status page. To show a date on the product page, add a theme section such as Section Store's Delivery Timer for $9 once, or a delivery date app with a monthly plan.

How do I add an estimated delivery date to Shopify for free?

Turn on Shopify's manual delivery dates in Settings, then Shipping and delivery. They are free on every plan and show at checkout. For the product page, apps such as Essent and LAUNCHTIP's Delivery Timer have free plans up to 1,000 and 500 views a month. Above that, they charge monthly.

Does the Delivery Timer section have an order-by countdown?

No. The Delivery Timer section shows dates, not a clock. It has no cutoff hour, so a morning and an evening shopper see the same dates. For an "order within 3 hours" countdown, use an app such as Essent, OD2 or Estimated Delivery Date ‑ ETA, and set the cutoff to your real one.

Does the Delivery Timer section skip weekends and holidays?

It skips weekends when you turn off "Include weekend days" on a step. An order on Saturday or Sunday then counts from Monday. It has no holiday list. Before a public holiday, add a day to your steps in the theme editor, or use an app that takes holiday dates.

Can I show different delivery dates for different products?

Yes, with product templates. The section's days apply to every product on one template. Create a second product template for slower items, add the Delivery Timer section there with longer days and assign those products to it. Apps can set rules by product, collection or tag instead.

Is the Delivery Timer section the same as the Delivery Timer app?

No. "Delivery Timer: Estimated Date" is a separate app by LAUNCHTIP, priced by monthly views from free to $39.99 for unlimited. Section Store's Delivery Timer is a theme section you buy once for $9. It runs in your theme with no monthly fee and no view limit.

What happens to the Delivery Timer section if I change themes?

You keep it. Open Section Store and add your purchased section to the new theme. Buying it again is never needed. The section's settings live in the old theme, so you set the steps and days again in the new one.

Do I need Section Store Plus for the Delivery Timer section?

No. The Delivery Timer section is a one-time purchase and works without any Section Store subscription. Section Store Plus at $15 a month is a separate plan with bundles, quantity breaks, the cart drawer, AI Pages and a Shipping info block. You can use either one, or both.
