Shoppable videos on Shopify with no monthly fee: 3-year cost of shoppable video apps

Short answer

Yes. Shoppable video is a Section Store theme section you buy once for $14, with no monthly fee and no view cap. Shoppers tap a video, pick a size or color and add the product to the cart. At 30 videos and 5,000 views a month, shoppable video apps cost $0 to $3,600 over three years.

  • The Shoppable video section costs $14 once and $0 a month afterwards, billed through Shopify.
  • Shopify's own product video holds up to 10 minutes and 1 GB but has no product card or Add to cart.
  • At 5,000 views a month, ReelUp needs its $99.99 plan, or $3,599.64 over 3 years.
  • Doran's free plan covers 30 videos with unlimited views, so it beats a paid section on cost.
  • An app still wins for TikTok and Instagram sync, video analytics and the Shop app.

Shoppable videos are product videos that shoppers can buy from. They tap a video, see the product and add it to the cart without leaving the page. You can add them to Shopify without a monthly fee. Shoppable video is a Section Store theme section you buy once for $14, with no view cap. Section Store is a Shopify app with theme sections, bundles, a cart drawer and AI Pages. We make it, and this guide says when a monthly app is the better buy.

What are shoppable videos on Shopify?

Shoppable videos on Shopify are short videos with a product attached. A shopper watches a clip, taps the product card and buys. Most stores use vertical clips, the kind shot for TikTok or Instagram Reels. Customer videos (UGC) and how-to clips work too.

Shopify's online store plays video but doesn't make it shoppable. You can upload a video to a product's media or embed a YouTube or Vimeo link. Shopify's product media guide allows uploads of up to 10 minutes and 1 GB, in .mp4, .mov or .webm. That video sits in the product gallery. It has no product card and no add to cart button. A shoppable video section or app adds those.

Can you add shoppable videos without a monthly subscription?

Yes. A Section Store shoppable video section is a one-time purchase, with no monthly fee and no view limit. Shoppable video apps on the Shopify App Store bill monthly, or offer a free plan with caps on views, uploads or videos on show. Your store pays once for the section and keeps it.

A section is different from an app. Buying it copies the section's code into your theme. It then runs like any built-in section in your theme. There is no app server between your shopper and the video, and nothing counts views. Section Store's purchase page puts it plainly: "Buy once and keep it forever."

The trade. A one-time section plays the videos you upload and sells the products you tag. It doesn't import from TikTok or Instagram, and it doesn't report views or revenue. Apps do both, and that is much of what their monthly fee pays for.

Which Section Store shoppable video section fits your store?

Shoppable video fits most stores, because it adds to the cart from the video itself. It is also the most installed of the four in our catalog. The other three suit a story-style viewer or a product page. All four are one-time purchases. The table describes what each one does, read from the section code.

Section Store's shoppable video sections, from the section code. Checked October 24, 2026. Prices are one-time.
Section Where it goes What a tap does Video sources Price
Shoppable video Any page, as a carousel Opens a popup with the video, the product, its options and Add to cart Shopify upload, YouTube, Vimeo $14
Shoppable video #2 Any page, as a carousel with tags Opens a full-screen video slider with a link to the product Shopify upload, YouTube, Vimeo $14
Shoppable video #3 Any page, as a carousel Opens story-style videos with sound control and a "View product" link Shopify upload $14
Shoppable product videos Product page, near the buy buttons Opens a panel of several tagged products, each with Add to cart Shopify upload, YouTube, Vimeo $14

Here is what each one does in more detail. You can try them on the live demo pages.

  • Shoppable video. A carousel that shows up to 6 videos at once on desktop, autoplaying and muted by default. Each video has a product card underneath. A tap opens a popup with sound, a larger video, a heading, a short text, the product's options and Add to cart. The product goes to the cart in the background. On themes like Dawn, the cart count updates.
  • Shoppable video #2. Each card carries a short tag, such as "Best seller". The popup can play a longer video than the card. Its product card shows the price and the compare-at price, and links to the product page.
  • Shoppable video #3. A full-screen viewer like Instagram Stories, with arrows, a sound button and an optional progress bar. Each video links to its product.
  • Shoppable product videos. A video row on the product page, above or below the buy buttons, title or description. One video can tag several products. The panel shows each product's price, stock, option dropdown, quantity and Add to cart.

Two video sections have no product link. Video slider ($9) is a customer video carousel with star ratings. Product videos ($9) shows how-to clips on the product page. Use them when you want social proof or a demo, not a shop-from-video moment.

How do you add shoppable videos to Shopify?

You add shoppable videos to Shopify in seven steps. Install Section Store, buy a section and add it in the theme editor. Then add one video block per clip and tag a product on each. The steps below use the Shoppable video section.

  1. Install Section Store from the Shopify App Store. The app is free to install.
  2. Buy Shoppable video in the app. Shopify bills the one-time charge.
  3. Add it to your theme. Pick the theme in the app. Then open the theme editor, choose the page and click Add section.
  4. Add a Video block for each clip. Upload the file under "Video from Shopify", or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link under "Video embed from URL".
  5. Pick the product for each block. Leave "Use variants" on so shoppers can choose a size or color in the popup.
  6. Set the layout. Choose slides per view for desktop and mobile, and an aspect ratio such as Portrait for vertical clips.
  7. Test it. Tap a video in preview, add the product and check the cart.

If your cart drawer doesn't open after Add to cart, turn on "Reload page after add-to-cart". The setting says why: "Some cart-drawers do not integrate well with add-to-cart functions". You can also send shoppers straight to the cart page. Section Store's own cart drawer opens on its own when products are added. Our 5-minute shoppable video tutorial on YouTube walks through the setup. An earlier video shows the section on a live store.

Two tips make the videos load fast. Upload short clips to Shopify rather than embedding YouTube, since YouTube adds its own player. Keep "Lazy load" on, so videos below the fold load only when a shopper scrolls to them.

What do shoppable video apps cost over three years?

At 30 videos and 5,000 views a month, shoppable video apps cost $0 to $3,600 over three years. The Shoppable video section costs $14 once, less than two months of most paid plans. One free plan beats it outright. The table prices seven apps for a store with 30 videos live, no app branding and about 5,000 video views a month, over 36 months. It is an example with list prices, checked on each App Store listing on October 24, 2026.

Shoppable video cost at 30 videos and 5,000 views a month, from Shopify App Store listings. Checked October 24, 2026. The order is by 3-year cost.
App or section Rating Plan that fits Per month Over 3 years
Doran Video Slider 4.9 (372) Free forever, 30 uploads $0 $0
Shoppable video 4.9 (2,998) for Section Store One-time price $0 $14
Videowise 4.8 (252) Pro, 5,000 widget impressions $9 or more $324 or more
Quinn 4.9 (107) Starter, 5,000 views $9 $324
SwipeReel 5.0 (4) Pro $9.99 $359.64
Moast 5.0 (347) Pro $15 $540
Tolstoy 4.6 (284) Starter, 5,000 viewers $19 $684
ReelUp 4.9 (296) Premium, 20,000 views $99.99 $3,599.64

Usage drives most of these bills. ReelUp's $29.99 Basic plan covers 3,000 views, so 5,000 views moves you to $99.99. It counts a view after 4 seconds of watching. Tolstoy charges $10 for each extra 1,000 viewers. Videowise Pro includes 5,000 widget impressions and charges $10 per extra 1,000. Impressions count each time the widget shows, so a busy home page passes 5,000 fast.

A sales spike costs nothing extra with a section. At 50,000 views a month, ReelUp's Elite plan is $199.99. The Shoppable video section still costs nothing more.

What do the free plans of shoppable video apps include?

The free plans of shoppable video apps cap views, uploads or videos on show. Some add the app's branding. They suit a test with a handful of clips. These are the limits on each App Store listing on October 24, 2026.

  • Video Slider: Shoppable Videos (Doran). 30 video uploads and unlimited views. Analytics and auto sync from TikTok and Instagram need the $9 Unlimited plan.
  • Moast. Unlimited views, up to 10 videos per widget, Reels and TikTok import. The $15 Pro plan removes Moast branding.
  • Quinn. 550 views a month and 5 uploads.
  • SwipeReel. 25 uploads, but only 5 videos live on your storefront and 1 product tag per video.
  • ReelUp. 100 views a month and 10 uploads, with a watermark.
  • Videowise. Shoppable videos in the Shop app and TikTok Shop. Its paid plan lists "Unlimited shoppable videos on site!"
  • Tolstoy. A free plan to build a first experience, with 14 days of uncapped views. The $19 Starter plan lists "Publish shoppable videos to your store".

If 30 clips fit your plans, start with Doran's free plan. It costs nothing, and we'd tell a friend the same.

When is a shoppable video app the better choice?

A shoppable video app is the better choice when your videos live on TikTok or Instagram, or when you need to measure them. These are the cases where we'd pick one:

  • Import and auto sync. Apps pull Reels and TikToks into the store for you. A section needs each video uploaded or linked by hand.
  • Analytics. Apps report views, clicks and revenue per video. A section doesn't count anything.
  • Shop app and TikTok Shop. Videowise, Moast and Doran publish shoppable videos to the Shop app. A theme section only shows on your store.
  • Collecting customer videos. Moast Pro and Doran Unlimited ask customers to send in videos.
  • Many products per video, everywhere. Apps tag several products per video on any widget. In Section Store, only Shoppable product videos tags several.

Pick the section when you film your own clips, want no meter on views, and want the videos to run from your theme. Pick an app when the videos come from social accounts and you will act on the numbers.

If you upload your own clips and want Add to cart inside the video, pay once. The Shoppable video section costs $14 and nothing after that, at any number of views. If you need TikTok sync or video analytics, start with a free app plan.

How we compared

We read the code of the four shoppable video sections and the two video sections on October 24, 2026. Every setting name in this guide is quoted from that code. Install counts come from our own catalog data. Rival prices, ratings and free-plan limits come from each Shopify App Store listing that day. The 3-year figures are monthly list prices times 36, without annual-plan savings, for 30 videos and about 5,000 views a month. Shopify's video limits come from help.shopify.com. We make Section Store, rated 4.9 from 2,900+ reviews.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add shoppable videos to Shopify for free?

Yes, with limits. Doran's Video Slider is free for 30 uploads with unlimited views. Moast is free for up to 10 videos per widget, with its branding. Shopify alone plays product videos but adds no product card. For no caps and no monthly fee, the Shoppable video section costs $14 once.

Is there a shoppable video app with a one-time payment?

Section Store sells shoppable video sections for a one-time price billed through Shopify. Shoppable video costs $14. You keep the section after you pay, with no monthly fee and no view limit. The apps we checked on October 24, 2026 bill monthly or offer a capped free plan.

How do I make my Shopify videos shoppable?

Add a shoppable video section in the theme editor, then add one video block per clip. Upload the video or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link, and pick the product it shows. Shoppers tap the video, see the product and add it to the cart from the popup.

Do shoppable videos slow down my Shopify store?

They can, because video files are heavy. The Section Store sections lazy load videos by default, so clips below the fold load only when a shopper scrolls to them. Upload short clips to Shopify instead of embedding YouTube, since a YouTube embed loads its own player.

Can I import TikTok or Instagram videos into the section?

Not automatically. Download the clip and upload it to the block, or paste a YouTube or Vimeo link. Apps such as Moast, Doran and Videowise import Reels and TikToks for you. That import is a fair reason to pay for an app if your videos live on social accounts.

Can one shoppable video tag several products?

Yes, in the Shoppable product videos section. Each video block takes a list of products, and a tap opens a panel with each one's price, stock, options and Add to cart. The other three sections link one product per video. Most apps tag several products on their paid plans.

What happens to my shoppable video section if I change themes?

You keep it. Open Section Store and add your purchased section to the new theme. Buying it again is never needed. The section's videos and settings live in the old theme, so you add the video blocks again in the new one.

Do I need Section Store Plus for shoppable videos?

No. The shoppable video sections are one-time purchases and work without any Section Store subscription. Section Store Plus at $15 a month is a separate plan for product page bundles, quantity breaks, the cart drawer and AI Pages. You can use either one, or both.
