How to Add a Visible Review Summary to Your Shopify Dawn Product Page
Social proof is essential for driving conversions, but many Shopify stores using the standard Dawn theme make a critical mistake: hiding their reviews.
Often with reviews, the actual content - the convincing customer testimonials - is buried deep at the bottom of the page, sometimes hidden behind a tab. As shown in the video below, customers might never scroll far enough to see why others love your product.
The solution is to bring a summary of that social proof right up to the "buy box" area. In this guide, based on the workflow in the video, we’ll show you how to add a high-converting Review Summary block right under your "Add to Cart" button using the Section Store app.
Why placement matters
As demonstrated in the video, the goal is to move from a layout where reviews are hidden at the footer to a layout where a powerful summary sits next to the main call to action. This immediate reassurance can significantly increase the likelihood of a customer clicking "Add to Cart."
Step 1: Get the Section Store App
To add this functionality without custom coding, you'll need the Section Store: Theme Sections app from the Shopify App Store. This app lets you drop pre-built, customizable sections into your existing Dawn theme.
Step 2: Select a Social Proof Section
Open the Section Store app head to the conversion blocks tab and find "Review Summary". Add it to your store.
Step 3: Place it in the Theme Editor
- Go to your Shopify Admin and navigate to Online Store > Customize.
- Select your Product Page template.
- In the left-hand sidebar, look at your main Product Information section. Click "Add Block" or "Add Section" (depending on the specific section you chose).
- Select your new Review Summary section.
- Crucial Step: Drag the new section up so it sits immediately below your Price or "Add to Cart" button.
Step 4: Customize and Link
Click on the block to customize the text. You can manually input your average rating (e.g., "4.9 out of 5 stars") and the total review count (e.g., "Based on 142 reviews").
Once you're done, hit save. That's it, you now have a review summary on the product page.
Ready to Build Instant Trust?
Don't hide your best social proof at the bottom of the page. Add a high-converting Review Summary right under your buy button with the Section Store app.
